Danica McKellar welcomes her first child – a baby boy!
Danica McKellar has just become a mommy! The 35-year-old former Wonder Years star — who played Winnie Cooper in the hit American comedy drama — and her hubby Mike Verta welcomed their first child together, son Draco Verta, on Tuesday night.
“We are humbled, overjoyed and so grateful for this miraculous gift,” the couple said in a statement. “It’s like we’ve only now just learned the true meaning of love.”
Draco, whose name means “dragon” and was taken from the eponymous constellation, tipped the scales at a healthy 7 pounds., 2 ounces.
Danico and Mike wed in March last year before announcing her pregnancy a year later.
In an interview earlier this year, McKellar said she was hoping to have a natural birth and was planning to breastfeed for at least a year.
“I’ve been feeling great. My first trimester I did feel a bit queasy, but now I feel terrific and am full of energy,” she said.
“I know we can’t always know what medical surprises may happen during childbirth. But my hope is to go fully natural — no epidural, no interventions. Wish me luck.”
