Survivor producer fights extradition
Lawyers representing a former Survivor producer charged with murdering his wife in Mexico have filed a legal challenge to prevent his extradition back to the country.
The Mexican foreign ministry requested on Wednesday that Bruce Beresford-Redman, who is accused of killing his wife Monica in April, be extradited from the US, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
On Friday The AP confirmed that the state prosecutor of Los Angeles, where Beresford-Redman is currently staying with his children, had received the appeal against the proposed extradition.
Beresford-Redman’s lawyers stated on Thursday that he would surrender to US authorities if necessary, but intends to fight extradition to Mexico.
Beresford-Redman’s wife was beaten and strangled during a holiday to a luxury resort in Cancun. Her body was later discovered in a sewer.
He denies all charges, saying at the time that he was “devastated” by her death.
