Imogen Poots heads to Fright Night
Imogen Poots has been cast as the female lead role in ‘Fright Night’. The British actress – best known for her parts in ’28 Weeks Later’ and most recently, ‘Solitary Man’ – will play the girlfriend of ‘Star Trek’ actor Anton Yelchin in the reimagining of the 1985 movie classic.
She is the latest in a number of names announced in the film – Toni Collette, David Tennant and Colin Farrell have also been confirmed for roles.
Poots’ character will be part of a “popular crowd” who are unaware of Yelchin’s “nerdy” past, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog.
The movie tells the tale of a teenager (Yelchin) who becomes convinced his new neighbour (Farrell) is a blood-sucking vampire.
‘Lars and the Real Girl’ filmmaker Craig Gillespie – well known for his work in TV commercials – is due to direct the movie, due for release in 2011.
Imogen is currently working on a number of film projects, including horror thriller ‘Hello Darkness’ alongside Dominic Cooper and Julie Christie.
