Reese Witherspoon to receive Fame star
Reese Witherspoon is to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ‘Legally Blonde’ star is one of 30 new famous faces who will be immortalised on Hollywood Boulevard, along with actresses Gwyneth Paltrow, Penelope Cruz, and Sissy Spacek, director Ridley Scott, actor Donald Sutherland and puppet heroes The Muppets for their achievements in motion pictures.
The 2011 recipients of stars also include actors Danny DeVito and Neil Patrick Harris, producer John Wells, veteran presenter Oprah Winfrey, comic Tina Fey and ‘American Idol’ creator Simon Fuller for their work in television.
Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am is to be recognised for achievements in recording.
The 30 names were chosen from hundreds of nominees.
The stars will be honoured at presentation ceremonies throughout 2011.
In 2008, a $4.2m restoration of the Walk of Fame was initiated. At least 778 stars will eventually be repaired or replaced during the ongoing project because of wear and tear suffered over the years.
