Paul McCartney’s daughter marries
Sir Paul McCartney’s daughter has got married in secret. The Beatles legend was not present to see 40-year-old Mary McCartney – his eldest daughter with late wife Linda – tie the knot with Simon Aboud, 44, at London’s Marylebone Register Office last Saturday (12.06.10).
Writer-and-director Simon revealed the news on twitter, posting a picture of the newlyweds with the caption: “We got married on Saturday. Marylebone Registry, just us and the kids, the rings driven up the aisle to us by one of the boys on a remote control dune buggy. Lovely day.”
He later posted a picture of the rings sitting in the toy car.
Friends say the photographer was keen to keep her nuptials secret so as not to attract unwanted attention.
A source said: “Paul and Mary are close and always have been, but she decided to keep the event secret from everyone so it would not become a Macca thing.”
The marriage is Mary’s second, having previously tied the knot with producer Alistair Donald – the father of her sons Arthur, 11, and Elliot, seven – in 1999, before separating in April 2005.
Mary and Simon – who have been together for three years – have a 22-month-old son Sam together.
Paul and Linda previously married at the same place in 1969.
