Charlie Sheen organising new plea bargain

Charlie Sheen is trying to arrange a new plea bargain deal.

The ‘Two and a Half Men’ actor – who is due to appear in court next month to answer charges relating to an incident with wife Brooke Mueller on Christmas Day (25.12.09) – is reportedly hoping to avoid a jail term because he wants to care for their 15-month-old twins Bob and Max, while his spouse receives help for “stress management” issues.

The actor saw his original plea deal – which would have seen him serve a 30-day jail term with work release in exchange for pleading guilty to third-degree misdemeanour assault – fall through when he was deemed ineligible for day release and is now hoping to strike an arrangement with the court which would see him just given probation.

A source told RadarOnline.com: “Charlie realises that any deal with jail time now means he can’t smoke. He says he can’t go without it. And Brooke is still not clean and needs rehab. That’s got Charlie worried about the kids so now he’s willing to take probation.

“Other people took care of the kids when both Charlie and Brooke were in rehab at the same time. But this time Charlie says he wants to be there for them.”

Despite claims Brooke is returning to rehab for further treatment for drug addiction, her representative insists she is simply seeking help for stress management.

Her spokesperson said: “She is receiving professional help in the area of stress management. By seeking proper guidance, she will be able to continue to resist returning to old behaviour patterns. There is no shame in asking for help when it is called for. I have been informed she is doing well.”

It has been claimed that Brooke and Charlie are divorcing, though their representatives have denied the reports.
