American Idol Crystal Bowersox splits from boyfriend

American Idol runner-up Crystal Bowersox has revealed that she split from her boyfriend before the finale. The 24-year-old from Ohio – who was beaten to the prize by Lee DeWyze last night – told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM show that she separated from Tony on Tuesday.

Seacrest had prompted her to explain her previous statement that she had a “hard morning” that day, to which Bowersox replied: “You want an exclusive or what?!”

She added: “Big Tony went home. He wasn’t cool with the lifestyle. I didn’t break up with him… it was a mutual thing.

“It’s cool though, we’re both logical, grown adults. He’s a small town guy and that’s fine, I’m a small town girl, but I want this. I want this more than anything, this career, this lifestyle. I didn’t think he was up for it, he didn’t think he was up for it.”

She continued to say that she was “a little sad” that the separation happened on the performance day but suggested that it “set that fire to my belly”.

Bowersox added that she had “no one favorite moment” in the competition, describing the entire experience as an enjoyable ride.
