Lord Alan Sugar sent son to work at McDonalds
Lord Alan Sugar (63) has revealed that he sent one of his sons to work at McDonalds to “toughen” him up. The multi-millionaire businessman claimed that he hated seeing children of rich people “riding around in their parents’ Ferrari and not having to work for their money.
“My kids, who are not kids now at 38 and 35, would tell you I was a very wealthy man when they were 16 and 17 and they were sent out to work,” he told The Sun.
“One of my sons wanted money so I said, ‘Go on, work in McDonald’s to see what the other half of the world do’. He went out to work in McDonald’s in Ilford on a Saturday. It toughened him up a bit. I and my wife took the time to make sure they had their heads screwed on and their feet firmly on the ground.”
Sugar also argued that his new series “Junior Apprentice” proves that children do not always need mollycoddling to be successful in life.
“There is too much of a culture these days where things are laid on a plate for teenagers,” he said.
