Norah Jones was more ambitious before she was famous
OHMYGOSSIP — Norah Jones was “way more” ambitious before she was famous.
The Grammy Award-winning musician has admitted that after selling more than 45 millions records worldwide and winning a host of gongs, she has never recaptured the hunger she had while making her debut album ‘Come Away With Me’.
She shared: “It happened too fast. It felt insane and stressful, people knowing who you are, people critiquing you. And then the haters come out and hate you, and you’re like, ‘this is what people dream of, so why does it feel so weird?'”
Norah, 37, explained that she feels more comfortable now she is no longer enjoying the same level of success she experienced after her debut record was released.
She told the Sunday Telegraph newspaper: “That was a moment in time where things lined up in a way that kind of went over the top. When it died down, it became more comfortable. I really love playing music but I don’t need to play arenas. It just seems overwhelming.”
These days, all of Norah’s career-related goals are internal.
She explained: “The goal is always to get out of my own head. That’s why you play. You can have weird nights.
“You might not be inspired the first second you go onstage. But I just remember that I’m playing music and let go of all the s**t, whatever’s bothering me, all the little things, just let them go. That’s when the real stuff happens, the good stuff, when you’re not overthinking.”
