Kimberley Walsh to host Xtra Factor?

Kimberley Walsh (28), an English singer-songwriter, actress and model best known for her work with girl band Girls Aloud, is reportedly in talks to present this year’s series of The Xtra Factor.

The spinoff has previously been hosted by Holly Willoughby, but reports have suggested that she will leave the show to focus on This Morning.

The One Show host Christine Bleakley has been linked to the programme in the past but the Daily Star claims that Walsh is now the frontrunner.

“It is not 100% yet but it’s looking more and more likely to happen. Kim’s been on The X Factor before, helping Cheryl at the judges’ houses stage, and Simon Cowell thought she was great,” a source said.

The X Factor is a British television singing competition contested by aspiring singers drawn from public auditions. It´s the originator of the international X Factor franchise. The show is broadcast on the ITV network in the UK and on TV3 in Ireland, with spin-off “behind-the-scenes” shows The Xtra Factor and The X Factor 24/7 screened on ITV2 and TV3. The six series of the show to date have aired from August/September through to December. The show is produced by FremantleMedia’s talkbackTHAMES and Simon Cowell’s production company SYCOtv and is currently sponsored by TalkTalk in the UK and Domino’s Pizza in Ireland. The “X Factor” of the title refers to the undefinable “something” that makes for star quality.
