OHMYGOSSIP — Alexander Wang has unveiled his collection with adidas.
The 32-year-old fashion designer sent social media into overdrive on Saturday (10.09.16) when he showcased items from the forthcoming Spring 2017 line with the sports brand at a space on the Hudson River pier in New York.
Wang has said that he intended to decode the adidas brand as a whole and separate the fake from the authentic.
He explained to Vogue magazine: “With this collection, the idea was to take the codes and iconography of the adidas Originals brand and look at what their symbols mean and turn them on their head, to invert what’s on the surface and add a layer of subversion; also to toy with the idea of what’s authentic and what’s fake, and how a certain setting can change perception entirely.”
The California-born creative has also shared pictures on Instagram with several celebrities sporting items from the runway at New York Fashion Week including Madonna’s 16-year-old son Rocco Ritchie and rappers Fetty Wap and Travis Scott.
There are 84 pieces of clothing and footwear for both men and women.
Wang has also announced pop-up shops where nine items will be on sale before they officially go on sale in Spring.
The first is at Canal at midday on Monday (12.09.16) and Mercer in the Big Apple at 3pm at 57th Street and Seventh Avenue respectively.
Many more pop-up shops are planned to follow in Brooklyn, London and Tokyo.
