Molly Ringwald won’t let kids be child stars

Molly Ringwald has admitted that she does not want her children to act until they are older. “The Breakfast Club” star has three children, Mathilda, 6, and 8-month-old twins Adele and Roman, with her husband Panio Gianopolous.

Speaking to OK!, Ringwald explained that she would support her children if they wanted to act but only if they had finished school.

“Mathilda is very willful, headstrong and very intelligent but so far she is shown no interest in being on stage,” Molly Ringwald said. “I think she is more of a behind-the-scenes person. That could change after college and all that. If she wants to do it, I would support her, but after college. Not as a child.”

She continued: “I think that it’s hard having grown up in the business. I think it is something I wouldn’t want for my own children. If they want to do it later, that’s great. But I think I just want them to be kids.”

Ringwald added that she was fortunate to have a strong family to support her. “I think that that’s the best thing that anyone can have, whether they’re an actor or not,” she said. “That’s what I want to have for my own family. Show business is very hard for anyone, but particularly for kids. I think without that strong family background, it’s very challenging.”
