Danica McKellar expecting her first child
“The Wonder Years” Star Danica McKellar (35) and her husband, composer Mike Verta, have announced that they are expecting their first child this fall.
“I am nearing the end of my first trimester and I am so excited. I´ve been bursting to tell people,” McKellar tells People magazine.
“I was in the middle of a really intense deadline for my book,” explains McKellar. “I wanted to put off the pregnancy test because I didn’t want any distractions … but that only lasted a day… I couldn’t stop thinking about it and I caved! You can’t try to put that off. When you do take the home pregnancy test, it doesn’t quite seem real. But when you see the baby and the heartbeat on the ultrasound, it’s so incredible. Me and Mike looked at each other and we could not stop the tears,” she says. “We are so happy.”
Danica and Mike have been married for nearly an year. Since “The Wonder Years”, McKellar has focused her attention on being a mathematician, author and education advocate. She has written the “New York Times” bestselling book “Math Doesn’t Suck”, “Kiss My Math” & is currently working on “Hot X: Algebra Exposed”.
