Carrie Underwood scooped two trophies at the 2016 CMT Awards + FULL WINNERS LIST!
OHMYGOSSIP – Carrie Underwood wins big at CMT Awards! Carrie scooped two of the three awards she was up for at the CMT Awards in Nashville on Wednesday (08.06.16).
The 33-year-old beauty nabbed the prize for Performance of the Year and Female Video of the Year for ‘Smoke Break’ at the star-studded bash, bringing the total number of gongs she’s won at the country music event over the years to an impressive 16.
Carrie – who has 14-month old son Isaiah with her husband, ice hockey star Mike Fisher – dedicated her win to her fans during her acceptance speech for Performance of The Year and said: “I want to thank you guys for coming out and supporting country music on tour. We’ve spent the first part of the year on the road and it’s just been so wonderful to see so many people come out. I know I speak for everybody out there – all of us artists who say you guys are the reason that we get to do what we get to do. Thank you so much for coming out and supporting us in concert. God bless you guys.”
However, the blonde beauty lost out on Video of the Year at the glitzy event that honours the biggest names in country music to Tim McGraw’s ‘Humble and Kind’.
Elsewhere, Thomas Rett won Male Video of The Year for ‘Die A Happy Man’ and Chris Stapleton walked away with Breakthrough Video of the Year for his song ‘Fire Away’.
Fans were treated to a duet by Pharrell Williams and Little Big Town on their hit ‘C’mon’ but it was Nicole Kidman’s husband Keith Urban who opened the show with a performance of ‘Wasted Time’ and was joined by Brett Eldredge and Maren Morris.
Other performances on the night came from Cam and pop girl group Fifth Harmony – who performed a mash-up of ‘Mayday’ and ‘Work From Home’ – and Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Billy Ray Cyrus and rockers Cheap Trick also took to the stage in the music filled night.
Erin Andrews and JJ Watt hosted the CMT Awards which aired live from Nashville.
