Oprah Winfrey asks Gabourey Sidibe to Oscars

Gabourey Sidibe (26) has been asked to attend Sunday’s Oscars with Oprah Winfrey. The “Best Actress” nominee, who has said that she’s taking her mum to the ceremony, received the offer from Winfrey this week, Digitalspy mediates People.

“Oprah called me and was like, “Hey girl, do you want to ride together?”” Gabourey said at Thursday´s third annual Essence Black Women In Hollywood luncheon.

However, Sidibe explained that she has had to refuse, saying: “I was like, “I got it Oprah, calm down. I don´t want to show up with you. People will think we´re too cool”.” Despite rejecting Winfrey’s invitation, the actress said that she still admires the presenter.

“She´s the only person that I a,m continually star-struck by,” added Sidibe. “When I meet people I get used to them very quickly because everyone seems like a friend, because I watch them on TV. But Oprah is the only one I can´t get used to.”
