OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Arnold is taking a break from ‘Good Morning Britain’.
The entertainment reporter joked on Tuesday’s (08.10.24) episode that he is “retiring from public life”, because he won’t be seen for a couple of weeks until the Pride of Britain Awards on October 21st.
Speaking on ‘GMB’, he joked: “I am retiring from public life until the 21st, then I will be back for Pride Of Britain.”
Presenter Ed Balls asked Richard: “Are you off to an island?”
But Richard revealed he is taking a break to spend some quality time with his mother, 81-year-old Dot.
He replied: “No. I will be spending a bit of quality time with mother as always.”
‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Susanna Reid branded Richard “the ideal son”, and added: “I just hope that my boys at your age say the same thing.”
But Richard joked his mum sees him as “needy”.
He said: “I wish my mother would say the same thing but I think she’s thinking I’m a little bit too needy.
“You left home at 17 son, thank you and goodnight.”
In December, Richard thanked NHS staff for looking after Dot, before signing off for the festive period.
He said at the time: “I would like to thank the staff at St Mary’s Hospital who have looked after my mum on and off.
“The care teams out there, all of you out there who do that job – and unsung.
“And to all my friends and family who have wrapped me up in cotton wool this year as well, in what has been quite a challenging year.
“And to all my friends and colleagues and the entertainment team who put this stellar slot together.
“We managed to get to the end of the year gang!
“Merry Christmas to you all, have a good one.”
