Naomie Harris is clueless about the future of James Bond
OHMYGOSSIP — Naomie Harris has “absolutely no idea” what’s next for the James Bond franchise.
The 47-year-old actress starred opposite Daniel Craig, 56, as Eve Moneypenny from 2012’s Skyfall’ to ‘No Time To Die’ in 2021, though has now revealed she’s been left in the dark as to where producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are planning to take the series in the future as they prepare to welcome a new performer to play the iconic spy.
During an appearance on SiriusXM’s ‘The Jess Cagle Show’, she said: “I don’t know what’s gonna happen for the next.
“I don’t know where they’re going, what direction. I have absolutely no idea and I’m so glad that I don’t have any idea, otherwise, I’d slip up, so nobody tells me anything.”
The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star reflected on her time as Moneypenny and admitted she “will really miss” the familiarity that came with the part.
She said: “I will really miss it because as an actress, or an actor, and in this profession, you’re just kind of like a gypsy going around on your own constantly.
“And for the first time, I had a sense of continuity going back to the same place to work with at Pinewood Studios, to work with the same team, and it’s a beautiful feeling to have that.
“So yeah, [I] feel a bit lost without it, to be honest.”
While the ‘Moonlight’ star misses appearing in the James Bond series, Craig had previously said he felt like he needed to “move on” from the franchise after bowing out as 007 in ‘No Time To Die’.
He told The Los Angeles Times newspaper: “I don’t want to go back. I suppose I should be lucky if they were to ask me back, but the fact is I need to move on from it.
“The sacrifice that he makes in the movie was for love and there’s no greater sacrifice. So it seemed like a good thing to end on.
“I’m very, very fortunate as an actor to have got to a stage in my career where I can now go, ‘You know what? I’m gonna pick and choose.'”
There have been very few updates about the franchise since the 2021 picture, aside from Broccoli revealing last October that the new 007 had not been cast yet.
She told The Guardian newspaper: “Daniel gave us the ability to mine the emotional life of the character … and also the world was ready for it.
“I think these movies reflect the time they are in, and there’s a big, big road ahead reinventing it for the next chapter and we haven’t even begun with that.”
