Louis Theroux admits it is ‘stressful’ living with alopecia

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Theroux has opened up about his struggle with alopecia and he worries that his hair loss will make him less attractive to his wife.
The 54-year-old documentary maker has been steadily losing hair due to the autoimmune disorder and he is getting increasingly anxious about his lack of locks as he knows his wife Nancy Strang – whom he has been married to since 2012 and has three sons, Albert, 14, Frederick, 11, and four-year-old Walter, with – cares about it.
Appearing on the ‘This Past Weekend’ podcast, he said: “It’s stressful. I care a bit because I think my wife cares. And the last thing I need is to be even less attractive to her.
“She is too good for me. She’s so much better looking than I am. But I was on TV when I met her, so it was adjusted. It was adjusted for celebrity.”
The ‘Forbidden America’ presenter can see the effects of his alopecia every time he looks in the mirror and his once luscious locks are rapidly thinning.
He shared: “I used to have a beard, and then I got alopecia. Yeah, my beard fell out. And my hair has gone thin. I have patches in my hair.
“It’s always there. It’s there when I look in the mirror. And if I touch my hair, I used to feel kind of thick, luscious locks, like gorgeous, just enjoyable. And then little holes appear.”
Louis can see some signs of recovery as his beard is growing back but the hair has returned white.
He said: “My beard, it’s coming back, but it’s white. I feel like one of those guys who’s seen a ghost, and their hair goes white and falls out.”
