Melissa Joan Hart reveals why Sabrina The Teenage Witch reboot is being blocked

OHMYGOSSIP — Melissa Joan Hart has insisted there is a lot of “red tape” preventing a ‘Sabrina The Teenage Witch’ reboot.
The 47-year-old star – who played Sabrina Spellman on the classic sitcom in the late 1990s and early 2000s – has hinted that while fans might be clamouring for a revival, the original cast don’t have any say over whether or not it may actually happen.
Speaking to E! News, she said: “No, unfortunately that’s out of our control and our power. There are other people that own the property now.
“Netflix did [do a ‘Sabrina’ series] – that was a different Archie comic, that was a different comic book, the IP and all that. It’s all red tape stuff.”
Melissa – who recently reunited with castmates Beth Broderick (Zelda Spellman), Jenna Leigh Green (Libby Chessler), Nate Richert (Harvey Kinkle), David Lascher (Josh Blackhart) and Alimi Ballard (Quizzmaster Albert) at ’90s Con’ – revealed she does still have an unlikely connection to the show in her private life thanks to one of her sons.
She laughed: “It’s very strange that my son is dating a girl named Sabrina right now!”
Although she doesn’t think her boy’s partner is a witch, she quipped: “She’s bewitched him, so I guess!”
While, Melissa admitted she had to learn to accept the love she gets from ‘Sabrina’ fans all over the world, as she initially found it “overwhelming”.
She explained: “It took me a little while to warm up to the love I was receiving because it felt overwhelming at first, but over the years, I really adore it now. [Fans say] the most lovely, wonderful, loving things.
“There couldn’t be a warmer environment than a Comic Con like this where you’re just surrounded by fans that are only there to give love and tell you how important you were in their life. How do you reciprocate that?”
