‘A pretty rotten week’ Greg James pulls out of radio show after family bereavement

OHMYGOSSIP — Greg James pulled out of his BBC Radio 1 show after his grandmother passed away.
The 38-year-old broadcaster wasn’t on his radio show on Monday morning (19.02.24), but he later revealed on social media he was absent due to the passing of his nan.
On Instagram, he wrote: “A pretty rotten week. Got rid of Covid and then yesterday my lovely 100 year old Nan died so have spent a nice quiet day today with the family.
“Excited to be back on the radio tomorrow and very much in need of some fun. With you at 7am. (sic)”
Attempting to lighten the mood, Greg joked he had been dealing with his grief by “thirsting” over Andrew Scott.
In a separate picture of him posing with the ‘All of Us Strangers’ star at the BAFTAs, Greg captioned the post: “Grief takes many forms. Mine appears to be thirsting after Andrew Scott.”
Later, the radio host updated his fans on the platform, and admitted he was struggling to cope with responding to the many messages of condolence he had received, as well as maintaining his family’s privacy.
He wrote: “Thank you very much for your nice messages. You’re very very kind. I sort of wanted to say something because I’ve been out of the loop the last couple of days and haven’t really got back to anyone or said anything and my job requires me to be honest and open and I love that about it.
“However, the new influx of messages means the problem is now exacerbated and I have even more people to reply to.
“I should have done that thing where families say please respect our privacy which essentially just means [go away] doesn’t it.
“I don’t want you to [go away] I’m just trying to be funny. I’M GRIEVING LEAVE ME ALONE. Don’t leave me alone. I’m off to look at more photos of Andrew Scott bye xx (sic)”
