Sir David Jason confesses he hasn’t watched Nicholas Lyndhurst in ‘Frasier’ reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Jason hasn’t watched Nicholas Lyndhurst in the ‘Frasier’ reboot.
The 83-year-old actor played Del Boy alongside Nicholas’ Rodney in ‘Only Fools and Horses’ from 1981 to 2003, but has admitted he still hasn’t tuned in to see his old co-star, 62, in the return of sitcom‘Frasier’, which made its comeback in October 2023 on Paramount+.
When asked by The Times about his thoughts on Nicholas’ performance as boozy university professor Alan Cornwall on the series, Sir David said: “Winter evenings have us hunkering down in front of the fire and watching television.”
“I haven’t seen the reboot of ‘Frasier’ yet with Nick Lyndhurst, my old co-star from ‘Only Fools and Horses’, but I’m sure he will have done a great job.”
Sir David also told The Times it was a “privilege” to have starred in ‘Only Fools’ as he knows how much it means to TV viewers, and commented on his status as a “national treasure”.
He added: “Being part of Only Fools and Horses is a privilege. I know how much it has meant to so many people.
“I hope I never take the title ‘national treasure’ too seriously – I call myself the ‘leg end’, but it’s humbling that people see me that way.”
The ‘Frasier’ reboot – itself a spin-off from ‘Cheers’ – has been hugely anticipated by fans of the original show.
It has seen the return of Kelsey Grammer, 68, as the titular radio psychiatrist, but actor David Hyde Pierce, 64, who played his brother Niles Crane in the show, turned down the chance to star in the reboot.
He told the Los Angeles Times: “I never really wanted to go back.
“It’s not like I said, ‘Oh, I don’t ever want to do that again.’ I loved every moment. It was that I wanted to do other things.”
