‘It’s all about money!’ Nick Pickard confirms Hollyoaks will ‘go on until at least 30th anniversary’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Pickard has confirmed ‘Hollyoaks’ will “definitely go on until at least the 30th anniversary” in two years.
The 48-year-old actor admitted the future of the show – which recently revealed it was going digital-first, sparking concerns about its longevity – is “all about if the money’s still coming in”.
Quizzed on whether he thinks soaps are a dying breed, Nick – who has portrayed Tony Hutchinson on the Channel 4 soap since the inaugural episode on 23 October, 1995 – told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Well I think it’s a question for bigger people than me.
“I mean, I look at it like if people weren’t watching it, you know, they wouldn’t be making it.
“It’s all about if the money’s still coming in and I don’t know how but they’re still on TV and we’ve been told that we definitely go on until at least the 30th anniversary so that’s as far as I know.”
Nick won’t be filming for ‘Hollyoaks’ for the next few weeks after he signed up to appear in the new series of ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’, which begins on Sunday (19.11.23).
And the star may not even be at ‘Hollyoaks’ for the 30th anniversary in October 2025, because, like the rest of the cast, he is only on a one-year contract.
He added: “I’m only contracted year to year anyway.
“So I mean, I’ve always taken each year as it comes.
“Every time we get a contract we go out and have a little drink and say it’s another year in the sunshine.
“So that’s how we live, none of us are on longer than one-year contracts anyway.”
Nick recently admitted the ‘Hollyoaks’ bosses have been “really supportive” of him taking part in ‘I’m A Celebrity’.
He said: “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and as soon as I was approached, I said ‘yes’. I am not quitting ‘Hollyoaks’ to take part.
“My bosses have been really supportive of me doing it.”
