I’ve been close to death’s door, says Jonnie Irwin

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonnie Irwin has been “close to death’s door” on more than one occasion.
The 49-year-old TV presenter has been diagnosed terminal lung cancer and he’s already come close to losing his life.
He told the ‘OneChat’ podcast: “I have been close to death’s door, twice at least.”
Jonnie was told that he had just six months to live when doctors discovered his lung cancer two-and-a-half years ago.
The TV star explained that he’s now trying to live with his illness for as long as possible.
He shared: “I am living with cancer rather than dying from cancer.”
Jonnie is also loving spending quality time with his family.
The presenter – who has Rex, three, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac with his wife Jessica Holmes – said: “I’ve been home more than ever before and I’m lucky to have seen every bit of their upbringing, and see how they change. That makes me very proud. And I’m kind of thankful for that.”
Jonnie was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2020, and he was told that he terminally ill after filming an episode of ‘A Place in the Sun’ in Italy.
He previously said: “Within a week of flying back from filming, I was being given six months to live.
“I had to go home and tell my wife, who was looking after our babies, that she was on her own pretty much. That was devastating. All I could do was apologise to her. I felt so responsible.”
Jonnie subsequently decided to spend as much time as possible with his wife and children.
He said: “I owe that to Jess and our boys.
“Some people in my position have bucket lists, but I just want us to do as much as we can as a family.
“I don’t know how long I have left, but I try to stay positive and my attitude is that I’m living with cancer, not dying from it.”
