Lucy Spraggan wants X Factor return

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucy Spraggan would welcome a return of ‘The X Factor’.
The 31-year-old star reached the live finals of the reality singing competition in 2012 after memorably auditioning with her self-penned hit ‘Last Night (Beer Fear)’ and admitted that because she is “close” to show boss Simon Cowell, she would like to get involved in a potential revival of the show following its cancellation in 2018.
She said: “I actually do think working class people and northern people don’t get as many opportunities as people in London. I would never have got my shot if I hadn’t gone on ‘X Factor’. By becoming close to Simon I’m in the best position to make that show safer for contestants’ mental health and give them aftercare.”
The ‘Tea and Toast’ hitmaker is due to release a memoir about her experience on the talent show next July, and she went on to add that the time is finally right for her to put pen to paper.
She told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “There’s things that I’ve been waiting to say for a really long time and I had to get myself to a position where I genuinely felt strong enough to do that. Now that I don’t drink or do drugs and can self-regulate, I feel like I’m truly ready.”
Last month, music mogul Simon, 64, – who served as head judge on the show alongside the likes of Cheryl, Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh, and Sharon Osbourne – admitted that if the programme was to return, he would bring the format “back to basics”.
He said: “At the beginning, it was very straightforward – you audition and then at the end of the series you get
to sing with a superstar. So if I was ever going to relaunch it, I would take it back to basics.”
It was reported earlier this year that ‘The X Factor’ was at the centre of a bidding war between ITV and Channel 5.
A source said: “After Simon Cowell decided to bring ‘X Factor’ back, he reached advanced talks with Channel 5.
“But now ITV execs have made it very clear they want the show. They’re trying to convince Simon to ditch Channel 5 and go with them instead.”
