Strictly’s Helen Skelton talks ‘down days’

OHMYGOSSIP — Helen Skelton has admitted she experiences “down days”, but she tries to “just get on with it”.
The ‘Countryfile’ presenter believes life is a “blessing” and always thinks there is “someone worse off than yourself” if she is going through a tough time.
She said: “I’ve always seen my mind as a muscle – if you look after it, it will look after you.
“People ask me if my glass is half full or half empty, and I say, ‘I’ve got a glass haven’t I?’
“Life is a blessing. Sometimes my friends are like, ‘You must have a down day,’ and of course I do, but I was just always one of those kids that was brought up to believe there’s someone worse off than yourself, so just get on with it.”
Helen – who has sons Ernie, seven, Louis, five, and 10-month-old-daughter Elise with her ex Richie Myler, 32 – loves to ensure she gets some fresh air on a daily basis to look after herself.
She added to OK.co.uk: “I invest in looking after my mind.
“I am a big advocate of the outdoors. I’ve always been the kind of person who needs to go for a walk every day or a run, or just get fresh air in my face.
“I used gyms and exercise to look after my mental health. It’s adaptable – when I was pregnant I swam a lot. I only do stuff that makes me feel good.”
Helen is currently taking part in ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and recently revealed she has struck up a friendship with her dance partner Gorka Marquez’s financée Gemma Atkinson.
She said: “I’m so lucky because Gemma’s also done the show and she gets it.
“She understands what it’s like when you’re in my shoes, so I feel like I get the benefit of that support [as well as Gorka’s].”
