Peter Kay filmed comeback advert on a phone

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Kay filmed his comeback advert on a mobile phone.
The 49-year-old star confirmed this week he is to hit the road again, after not performing a live tour since 2010, in an ad – which appeared during a break on the returning ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ – and he’s now told how he saved some money by getting a pal to shoot the commercial on a phone, and he had another gadget in his shorts to record his voice.
He said: “I put an iPhone down my shorts and put it on Voice Memo so I recorded my sound.
“Tesco spent £12 million on their Christmas advert, but I’ve done it in 10 minutes on two iPhones.”
In the ad, the comedian delivers a roll of carpet to his mum and he is heckled for his love of garlic bread by a couple of fans.
The star revealed it only took 20 minutes to shoot.
He added to BBC Radio 2: “It was hilarious. We were back home in 20 minutes.”
The ‘Phoenix Nights’ star will begin his tour on 2 December at the Manchester AO Arena before visiting arenas in Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, Belfast, Newcastle, Glasgow, and Dublin, before wrapping up in August.
Peter explained that because of the cost-of-living crisis, he has managed to keep ticket prices the same as they were when he last went on tour more than a decade ago.
In a statement, he said: “It’s good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy, and if there’s ever a time people need a laugh it’s now.
“And with the cost of living at an all-time high, ticket prices are starting from £35 – the same price they were on my previous tour in 2010.”
A poster for the upcoming tour described a ticket as an “ideal Christmas gift” and jokes that Peter – who has been married to Susan Gargan and has 18-year-old son Charlie as well as two other children with her – is “better late than never” with his return to stand-up comedy.
