OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Kay is returning to stand-up comedy. The 49-year-old star has not performed a live tour since 2010 but revealed during an ad break for the first episode of this year’s ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me out of Here!’ that he is to hit the road once more. Speaking in the advert – which saw him carrying a carpet into a house and heckled on his love for garlic bread by a couple of fans as part of a skit – he said: “It’s the future lads! I’m back on tour next month! .” The ‘Phoenix Nights’ star will begin his tour on 2 December at the Manchester AO Arena before visiting arenas in Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, Belfast, Newcastle, Glasgow, and Dublin before wrapping up in August and explained that because of the cost-of-living crisis, he has managed to keep ticket prices the same as they were when he last went on tour more than a decade ago. In a statement, he said: “It’s good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy, and if there’s ever a time people need a laugh it’s now. “And with the cost of living at an all-time high, ticket prices are starting from £35 – the same price they were on my previous tour in 2010.” A poster for the upcoming tour described a ticket as an “ideal Christmas gift” and jokes that Peter – who has been married to Susan Gargan and has 18-year-old son Charlie as well as two other children with her – is “Better late than never” with his return to stand-up comedy. Tickets for the ‘Better Late Than Never’ tour are set to go on sale on Thursday 10 November.
