Sacha Dhawan hails Jodie Whittaker as ‘leader’ on Doctor Who set

OHMYGOSSIP — Sacha Dhawan has hailed Jodie Whittaker as “a company leader” on the ‘Doctor Who’ set.
The 38-year-old actor – who plays the Doctor’s foe the Master on the BBC sci-fi favourite – has praised the departing star ahead of her final episode ‘Power of the Doctor’ on Sunday (23.10.22).
As quoted by, he said: “She is the best actress I’ve ever worked with and that’s not just because of her acting ability, it’s the fact that she is one hell of a company leader.
“It’s really hard to explain it [but] any actors will understand this, because playing the Doctor is a huge responsibility.
“She’s in every scene, she has so much dialogue that changes, and she welcomes – I’ve just never seen it – she welcomes every actor, no matter how big or small their part is, with open arms.”
And he revealed how Jodie – whom he worked with on ITV drama ‘Wired’ earlier in their careers – helped him settle into life on ‘Doctor Who’.
He added: “To have someone knocking on your door, saying, ‘Mate, get in my trailer!’
“I mean, I’d worked with Jodie on an ITV show years ago and we got to know each other a bit, but on this I got to see this amazing human being who is just absolutely brilliant and people should know that, because obviously she’s an amazing actress, but she is incredible.
“I couldn’t be more proud to have done scenes with her.”
Meanwhile showrunner Chris Chibnall – who is also leaving as Russell T Davies returns alongside new Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa – has revealed Jodie’s regeneration will be “visually very different”.
He explained: “It is different. It’s visually very different. And where it takes place is different. I think I can say that without it being too much of a spoiler. It definitely feels different. It’s not going to take place in the same place as the previous regenerations.”
