Queen Elizabeth once won a Pointless trophy

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth once won a ‘Pointless’ trophy.
The late monarch died last Thursday (08.09.22) at the age of 96 following a 70-year reign, during which she once played a version of the BBC teatime quiz show – which sees players attempt to score points by giving correct but obscure answers – at a W.I meeting in Sandringham with host Alexander Armstrong, and his co-star Richard Osman has now revealed how her team were victorious.
He said: “Alex was invited up to meet the queen – I note that I wasn’t invited. He went up to the Sandringham W.I and he played a game of ‘Pointless’ with two teams. The queen was captain of one of the teams against a local from the village.
“The queen’s team won. He said she was very forthright with her opinions as to what answers they should give. And at the end,he presented with her a ‘Pointless’ trophy. So there you go.I never met her but she was apparently very competitive and very funny. I was fuming the next day – he’d kept it all secret. I was fuming that I wasn’t invited!”
The TV-star turned author – who quit his role as co-presenter on ‘Pointless’ earlier this year, but released ‘The Bullet That Missed’ as the third novel in his ‘Thursday Murder Club’ series on Thursday (15.09.22) – got engaged to girlfriend Ingrid in May after almost two years of dating.
Richard has now revealed the pair are set to tie the knot in December in what will be an “un-showbizzy”-style ceremony.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, he said: “We’re getting married in December, which is lovely, in a very un-showbizzy wedding! Just all our [close] friends and things like that. I can’t wait! Lots of nice things are happening! Exciting, isn’t it?”
