EastEnders star Shane Richie lands new panto role

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘EastEnders’ star Shane Richie is set to appear in a Christmas pantomime.
The 58-year-old actor will be playing Muddles in Plymouth Theatre Royal’s rendition of ‘Sleeping Beauty’, which is to showcase in December.
In an announcement, Shane said: “’Sleeping Beauty’ is a great story with plenty of opportunity for big laughs and slapstick jokes that will entertain the whole family.”
Shane looks set to be busy after it was revealed he is also to reprise his iconic ‘EastEnders’ role as Alfie Moon in the BBC Soap.
Alfie first rocked up to Albert Square back in 2002 and made his last appearance in 2019. The BBC confirmed Shane’s return to ‘EastEnders’ last month, and the star is looking forward to his comeback.
He said at the time: “It’s an absolute honour and privilege to be asked back to my TV home of Albert Square. I’m looking forward to catching up with some old cast mates and meeting some new ones.
“The new exec producer Chris Clenshaw has been instrumental in wanting to bring Alfie Moon back with some wonderful storylines … and who am I to say no?! I can’t wait.”
Chris, who’s equally excited about Alfie’s return, added: “Shane Richie created one of the most iconic, loveable and most memorable characters in soap, and to welcome him back to Walford is an absolute pleasure. A lot’s happened since Alfie’s been away from the Square but wherever his floral shirts go you can expect fun, frolics and, of course, the odd porky-pie. We’re over the moon to have him home.”
Shane’s return is also thought to be a positive for his co-star Jessie Wallace, who plays his ex Kat Slater.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “It secures the future of Jessie as Kat, because together they deliver one of ‘EastEnders’ most captivating love stories.
“Having them on the cast is seen as a dynamite combination that might get more diehard fans tuning in again.”
