Countdown bosses ‘want Carol Vorderman back’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Countdown’ bosses would love Carol Vorderman to return to the show as the host – and she says it would be “an honour”.
The 61-year-old star previously co-presented the game show from 1982 until 2008, but Channel 4 bosses are said to want her as the main presenter to replace Anne Robinson, who has quit after a year.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper: “Carol is such a big part of Countdown and Channel 4 know how much everyone loves her.
“Bosses would love her to come back as the main host, her Countdown journey would come full circle. It would be perfect.”
Carol has responded to such speculation and fans who have been calling for her return, admitting it would be “an honour”.
She wrote on Twitter: “Thank you to all of you saying such lovely things about a possibility of me returning to Countdown. You’re very kind it would be an honour (sic)”
However, she appeared to distance herself from a return to the programme full-time, wishing the person who replaces Anne “all the love”.
She tweeted: “but I want to wish whoever is the lucky human to be the new host all the love and 9 letter words in the world (sic)”
Anne – who became the sixth main presenter of the daytime show and the first woman to take the helm when she took on the role last year – confirmed this week she has quit ‘Countdown’, because she wants to “enjoy” spending more time with her grandchildren and at her New York apartment.
She said: “I have had a blast – we have taken the ratings up and transformed the guests too.
“We no longer have northern newsreaders in Dictionary Corner – we have had a raft of top celebrities.
“But I have made up my mind to quit the show. I only signed on for a year and I have helped them out by doing about 40 shows more than my contract.
“I am moving on because I’ve got a lot going on – grandchildren, a big garden, an apartment in New York – and I want to enjoy them. ‘Countdown’ has taken up more of time than I thought it would.”
