Anton DuBeke wishes he could compete in Strictly Christmas special

OHMYGOSSIP — Anton Du Beke is “slightly disappointed” he is judging the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Christmas special.
The 55-year-old dancer joined the panel in place of Bruno Tonioli – who was unavailable due to coronavirus restrictions and commitments to ‘Dancing With the Stars’ – this year but he admitted he’d rather have a celebrity partner for the upcoming festive one-off competition because it’s always so much fun.
He said: “I love the Christmas special – it’s marvellous, the songs are great and the costumes are amazing.
“I’m slightly disappointed that I’m judging as I’d love to be dancing in it because I love it so much. And, you can’t get voted off, that’s what I love about it most!”
However, Anton is still “looking forward” to the show and can’t wait to don a novelty costume for the occasion.
He added: “I’m looking forward to judging in it though and dressing up, I don’t know what costume I’m going to be in yet but it will be something fabulous.”
Anton believes the ‘Strictly’ Christmas special has become a big part of people’s festive traditions these days.
He said: “Everyone loves ‘Strictly’! It’s the most wonderful thing on telly – the Christmas special has become a tradition in itself.”
While Anton won’t be taking part this year, he and fellow judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse will be casting their eyes over dances from six couples.
Adrian Chiles will dance with Jowita Przystal, Moira Stewart is paired with Aljaz Skorjanec, Anne-Marie is partnered by Graziano Di Prima, Mel Giedroyc will dance with Neil Jones, Jay Blades is teaming up with Luba Mushtuk and Dianne Buswell will partner Fred Sirieix.
