Tamzin Outhwaite lands ‘bucket list job’ on Death in Paradise

OHMYGOSSIP — Tamzin Outhwaite landed a “bucket list” role on ‘Death in Paradise’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ star is “over the moon” that she will appear in the 11th season of the BBC One crime drama – set on the fictional Caribbean island Saint Marie – as Holly Faircroft, an owner of a golf club who has a “dark side”.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, the 51-year-old actress said: “Over the the years I’ve always wanted to do ‘Death in Paradise’.
“As an actor, it’s one of those things you want to tick off so it’s always been a bucket list job for me.”
The ‘New Tricks’ star has to keep details of her character under wraps but did tease that her alter ego Holly does some “unsavoury things” which will attract the attention of DI Neville Parker, played by ‘The Royle Family’ star Ralf Little.
She said: “I can’t reveal too much about the character, but she does unsavoury things.
“She is a good mum and I don’t think she’s a bad human, but she’s got frustrated and bored in her marriage and it’s led her to doing bad things.”
Tamzin, 51, insists she finds playing villains “more interesting” than other characters because it’s always interesting to explore your “dark side”.
She said: “I always find playing characters with a dark side more interesting. Nobody when they get to my age has no past at all, so it is nice to play a flawed character.”
Tamzin – who will have ‘Waterloo Road’ star Jason Done play her husband in the episode – admits doing a location shoot on the French island of Guadeloupe was “like being in paradise”.
She said: “Filming it in the Caribbean was actually like being in paradise. It was beautiful. We had a really great time.”
Last month, it was revealed that the show’s Christmas special will see some fan favourites returning such as Danny John-Jules as Officer Dwayne Myers.
Executive producer Tim Key said: “We’ve been talking about a ‘Death in Paradise’ Christmas episode for years so we’re beyond excited to be finally making one and to be working with Danny again. We can’t think of a better place to spend Christmas than in Saint Marie – it’s still part of our tenth anniversary year after all!”
