Vernon Kay claims I’m A Celebrity bosses considered turning his series ‘nasty’

OHMYGOSSIP — Vernon Kay has claimed ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ bosses considered turning his series “nasty”.
The 47-year-old TV presenter appeared in the show last year, the first series to take place at Gwrych Castle, and he has claimed bosses thought about trying to mix things up in the camp after the group bonded well.
He said: “They put together a group of personalities that they knew would get on because there was no friction.
“But I’ve heard from the inside there was a moment in week one when they had a production meeting on how they could possibly turn it nasty.”
His claims were backed up by his castle campmate Beverley Callard, who said: “I heard that too!”
The 64-year-old star – who is best known for playing ‘Coronation Street’ character Liz McDonald – also claimed the show’s editing was “unfair” at times.
She said: “I think the editing in some way was a little bit unfair because they showed some of lots of people and not very much of other people.
“But that just goes with the job unfortunately. You missed out on the really comedic side of AJ [Pritchard], who is the funniest person, but it didn’t tend to show that side of him apparently.”
But Vernon, 47, believes ITV bosses decided against intervening in the mood of the castle campmates once they saw the viewing figures.
Speaking on Rylan Clark-Neal’s ‘Ry-Union’ podcast, he added: “When they saw the viewing figures, they were like, ‘Why would we want to ruin it?’ And they let us go with it, they let us embrace each other instead of being fractious.”
