Adam Thomas to reprise role for Waterloo Road return

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Thomas is set to make a ‘Waterloo Road’ comeback.
The hit school drama series is returning to the BBC following a six-year hiatus, and Adam, 33, who played class troublemaker Donte Charles from 2006 to 2009, is expected to reprise his role, but he will return as a teacher.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “It’s been top secret for a while but Adam is over-the-moon to be going back to ‘Waterloo Road’.
“It’s where it all started for him and he was really excited when it was announced the show would be coming back.
“Of course Adam was thrilled to be asked to return and didn’t hesitate in saying yes. It’s something he’s made no secret of and made it clear to bosses he was eager to do. He’s overjoyed it’s finally happening!”
Adam previously admitted he would love a ‘Waterloo Road’ revival.
In 2018, he said: “I would love nothing more than that [a ‘Waterloo Road’ revival]. That show has such a special place in my heart, as it was my first regular character role.
“I loved every minute of that series, so getting to see everyone again and getting to work with everyone again would be amazing.”
The BBC broke the news of the return back in September, via a post on their social media.
They tweeted: “Psst. We’ve heard a rumour going around school. Brand new Waterloo Road coming soon!”
Series 11 will focus on the challenges parents, teachers and pupils have been facing during the pandemic.
BBC’s director of BBC Drama, Piers Wenger said: “‘Waterloo Road’ is the perfect lens through which to explore post-COVID Britain, from the perspective of those who have arguably been affected most: young people in education.”
Alongside Adam, ‘Waterloo Road’ played a part in launching the careers of other stars such as Bridgerton’s Rege-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor.
