Hollyoaks bosses ‘not planning to kill off Sarah Jayne Dunn’s character’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Jayne Dunn’s ‘Hollyoaks’ character isn’t expected to be killed off anytime soon.
Bosses of the Channel 4 soap are said to have “no plans” to arrange for the 40-year-old star’s alter-ego Mandy Richardson to meet her maker in the near future, after the actress departed the Channel 4 soap after she refused to quit adult subscription website OnlyFans.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “In soap it’s very common for actors to drift in and out of the show.
“Beverley Callard has left ‘Corrie’ a number of times then returned, Patsy Palmer and Lacey Turner yo-yoed with ‘EastEnders’ and it’s even a thing for lesser-known stars like Danny Miller with ‘Emmerdale’.
“Sarah Jayne even did it herself, leaving in 2011 then coming back in 2017.
“But the key is whether the character just ‘moves abroad’ or gets jailed – something reversible. If the character’s killed off, you know it’s the end.
“So if I was Sarah Jayne, I’d feel pretty relieved there were no plans to bump off Mandy.”
Sarah joined OnlyFans in October, but after a meeting with ‘Oaks’ bosses she departed the show.
A Channel 4 spokesperson explained at the time: “‘Hollyoaks’ is a youth-facing drama with many young viewers, who follow our cast very closely, both in the soap and outside of it.
“We take our responsibility to our young audience very seriously and therefore the show does not allow any ‘Hollyoaks’ cast members to be active on certain 18+ websites.
“We had hoped we could reach a resolution with Sarah that would allow her to remain in her role as Mandy, but we respect her choice to continue to produce content on OnlyFans.
“In the past four years since her return to the show, her legacy character has been an integral part of some our most important storylines and we will be very sad to see her go.”
However, Sarah – who is expected to still be on screen as Mandy until early next year – recently insisted her OnlyFans content is “no different” to the photos she’s done for ‘Hollyoaks’ calendars over the years.
She said: “The site itself, you have to be over 18 to access, but my specific content is no different to the content I’ve put on Instagram, that I’ve done for men’s magazines, for calendars, all of my career.
“So actually, by putting it on a platform where you have to be over 18 to get on there, it’s actually protecting it from the younger audience.
“It’s taking it out of the public view and it’s putting it behind a paywall, where you have to be a certain age to view it.
“So anyone that didn’t want to see pictures of me in swimwear, or the nice photoshoots I’ve done all my life and that I enjoy doing …”
