Craig Charles promises Red Dwarf return

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Charles has promised that ‘Red Dwarf’ will hit screens once more in 2022.
The sci-fi comedy-drama has aired twelve series since its debut in 1989 and now actor Craig Charles – who plays the role of spaceship technician Dave Lister in the show – has confirmed that there is more to come.
He is quoted by The Daily Star newspaper as saying: “The 90 minute format seemed to play well with audiences so we plan to film more like that.”
The show made a welcome return in April 2020 with the hour and a half episode ‘The Promised Land’ that gained just under one million viewers when it first aired.
The good news comes after Craig revealed that he had been battling coronavirus which left him feeling like he “was drowning.”
He said: “It was horrible, actually. I was double-jabbed and I was glad because it might have been a lot worse if I hadn’t been. I couldn’t breathe. I felt like I was drowning. I couldn’t get enough oxygen into my lungs, which was pretty scary.”
Craig , 57, – who is also known for his long-running role as cabbie Lloyd Mullaney in ITV soap ‘Coronation Street’, a role he played until 2015 – previously spoke of his mischievous nature on set with Simon Gregson, who played his character’s best friend.
He said: “Me and Simon Gregson [Steve McDonald] were such good pals. At least once a month the producer would have us up to the office, begging us not to use the script as a template because we’d just make it all up like mates chatting in a pub.”
