Ant Middleton threatened to walk off SAS: Who Dares Wins set

OHMYGOSSIP — Ant Middleton threatened to walk off the set of ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ as he felt the show was becoming too safe.
The 41-year-old TV star was dropped from the Channel 4 show earlier this year due to his “personal conduct” and admits that he was “miserable” during his final series on the programme in Scotland.
Writing in his new book, ‘Mental Fitness’, Ant explained: “I’d been enduring rather than enjoying it for a while and had to be talked into doing the last series by my management team.
“I already felt the show had become too scripted, and that health and safety had become too powerful.
“It had drifted away from what had made it so fun and exciting to be a part of.”
Ant also admitted that he often argued with producers over the health and safety on tasks, which he felt removed some of the “authenticity” from the show which aims to replicate the selection process for the special forces.
He said: “I was always willing to butt heads if I thought the authenticity of the show was being further eroded or if some other element of what we were doing was being compromised.”
The former military man opened up on how he threatened to walk off set when a task in freezing water was interrupted by health and safety concerns.
Ant told producers: “Unless this changes, I’m f***ing leaving. I’ll walk off set. I cannot have my recruits interrupted halfway through a task. You’re going to ruin the whole authenticity of the show. It’s out of hand.
“I even said as much to one of the producers. ‘You guys are going to be getting a call very soon. I don’t agree with the way this course is being run. I’m not being allowed to do my job any more. I’m out.'”
Ant also accused Channel 4 of “pushing” him before he quit the show.
He said: “They knew that I was going to jump so they pushed me first.”
