Steve Allen discreetly apologised to Tilly Ramsay over ‘chubby little thing’ remark

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Allen “privately” apologised to Tilly Ramsay after his body-shaming remark.
The 67-year-old LBC radio presenter branded the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant a “chubby little thing” on air.
He said: “Tilly Ramsay is on ‘Celebrity MasterChef Australia’, is she? Well she can’t blooming well dance, I’m bored with her already. She’s a chubby little thing, isn’t she? Have you noticed? Probably her dad’s cooking I should imagine.”
And Gordon Ramsay’s 19-year-old daughter replied on social media, saying: “Steve please feel free voice your opinions however I draw the line at commenting on my appearance. It’s such a shame that someone is trying to make such a positive experience negative.
“However I won’t tolerate people that think it’s okay to publicly comment and scrutinise anyone’s weight and appearance.”
It has since been claimed that the broadcaster discreetly reached out to the YouTuber personally to offer a “full apology”.
A source told the Daily Star: “Tilly has been given a full apology by Steve. He wanted to make it clear that he is very sorry to have upset her.
“It was sent privately because he didn’t want it to look like it was done for publicity.”
Some of the colleagues of the radio DJ had even called for him to be sacked over the cruel comment.
A staffer working at LBC Radio urged Steve to “issue an apology at least”, but also claimed some “want him gone”.
The source told The Sun newspaper: “Steve’s outdated and archaic comments have been allowed to continue for far too long and plenty of people want him out.
“There’s free speech and then there is calling a teenage girl fat live on the radio. Plenty of people think it’s time he was given his marching orders because this isn’t the first time he’s made unacceptable comments on air and hasn’t been reprimanded.
“He should issue an apology at the least – but people want him gone.
“He’s bringing the reputation of the station down.”
Former ‘Love Island’ star Amy Hart also called for Steve to get the boot from the station, after claiming he has branded her “desperate and pointless” on the radio.
She said: “He 100 per cent has to be sacked. He’s called me desperate and pointless, why is he still allowed to be on the radio?”
Former ‘TOWIE’ star Gemma Collins has also hit out at Steve, after he once called her “Gemma the Hut”.
