Maya Jama: Live TV is scary!

OHMYGOSSIP — Maya Jama is terrified of making a mistake on live television.
The 27-year-old presenter is set to host Channel 4’s ‘Stand up to Cancer’ telethon, which will be broadcast live to the nation.
Although Maya – who is now working at boxing streaming network DAZN as a host – has plenty of experience of live broadcasting experience she is always nervous about saying the wrong thing on air.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column, she said: “Anything can happen. The emotions are high, the adrenaline is running, it’s like a buzz. But in the same way, anything can go wrong. You could mess up your career on a live night if you did something really bad, you never know.”
Maya – who has presented ‘Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star’ and appeared on ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’ – then quipped: “Let me just touch some wood!”
The former Radio 1 DJ will be co-hosting the ‘Stand up to Cancer’ special with a other famous faces, including Adam Hills, 51, Alan Carr, 45, and ‘Masked Singer’ judge Davina McCall, 53.
The special will air on Friday October 15, the eve of Davina’s 54th birthday and the telly star joked on how she planned to celebrate.
She said: “Hopefully with breakfast in bed from my kids. It used to mean raw crumpets but thankfully now they are old enough to know how to make breakfast!”
Maya recently was confirmed as presenter for Simon Cowell’s new TV show ‘Walk the Line’, which will replace ‘The X Factor’ following its cancellation earlier this year.
The programme sees music acts compete for a chance to win a life changing prize pot of £500,000.
Following the announcement, Maya gushed: “If someone said to me, describe your dream job. It would be this. I literally couldn’t be more excited to be working with Syco, Lifted Entertainment and the incredible team at ITV on ‘Walk The Line’.”
