Shirley Ballas: Fame is difficult

OHMYGOSSIP — Shirley Ballas has found fame “quite hard to deal with”.
The professional dancer is Head Judge on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and she admits the “mainstream fame” that the show has brought about for her is difficult at the times.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday newspaper, she said: “The mainstream fame which is handed to you by shows like Strictly has been quite hard to deal with.
“You have to be resilient when people start writing or saying unkind things about you. When the producers asked me back for a second go, I asked my mother if she thought it was a good idea. It is invasive on your private life but, eventually, we decided it would be OK to do it again.”
Meanwhile, Shirley previously revealed her first audition for ‘Strictly’ was an “absolute disaster”.
Asked her favourite memory from the show so far, she said: “It has to be the day I got the job. That is a memory I will never forget. The audition was an absolute disaster … I got to do it twice, and the second one was better. To get the actual call to say, ‘We think that you would be good for the job’, and at 57, who would have thought? Now I’m going into my fifth series and I love it more than life itself.
“I just love every single second of the music, the atmosphere, the celebrities, the professionals (who are the best in the world by the way) and everybody who helps make that show run.”
Shirley was so “tremendously excited” for the new series to start up.
She added: “I am so tremendously excited, I absolutely cannot wait. One, to be going back to work, two, to see all my friends, and three, to watch the journey of this spectacular line-up of celebrities.”
