Strictly Come Dancing judges Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse embark on health kicks

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judges Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse are on health kicks before the new series gets underway.
Shirley is trying to banish some weight she put on in the last 18 months amid the coronavirus pandemic lockdowns, and Motsi is taking part in a “self-care challenge”.
The 61-year-old ‘Strictly’ head judge told HELLO! magazine: “Over lockdown I gained some weight, so I’m trying to get back to where is comfortable for me.”
Fellow judge Motsi, 40, has cut out calorific treats such as chocolate and wine.
She told OK! magazine: “For the last season of ‘Let’s Dance’, I was very disciplined about how I treated myself because there can be so much pressure.
“That worked out really well so now it’s the same. I’m taking care of myself.
“I’m thinking about what I’m eating, drinking and where I am mentally.
“And when the season starts, I’ve got my own self-care challenge that I post about on Instagram.
“We started on 1 September and will follow it all the way through with things like mental coaching, people speaking about food, and how to structure your day.”
Motsi has embarked on a 12-week regime to prepare for the latest series of the BBC Latin and ballroom show.
She told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: “It is important to me to eat a balanced and healthy diet. I keep noticing how easy it is and how good I feel about it. It is very important to me to drink enough to get my body going.”
‘Strictly’ judge Craig-Revel Horwood, 55, also recently lost some weight, and he put it down to his participation in ‘The Masked Dancer’.
He said: “I lost a stone in lockdown. I’ve been eating really healthy food and ‘The Masked Dancer’ kept me trim.”
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ will return for its 19th series on September 18th.
The line-up includes former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Katie McGlynn, McFly’s Tom Fletcher, and ‘Loose Women’ panellist Judi Love.
