Paddy McGuinness says fans will love Max and Paddy Christmas specials

OHMYGOSSIP — Paddy McGuinness thinks fans will love the ‘Max and Paddy’s Road To Nowhere’ Christmas specials.
The 48-year-old comedian – who played doorman Patrick ‘Paddy’ O’Shea alongside Peter Kay’s Max Bygraves in ‘Phoenix Nights’ and its spin-off – has responded after his co-star revealed there are two episodes written and ready to go.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Peter did a live show a week or so back and he’s throw it out there. But that’s what he does.
“He makes an appearance once very three or four years, says we’re going to do some ‘Max and Paddy’, then no one sees him again. And then every interview I do, it’s like, ‘When’s it back?’
“I’m texting him, ‘Why have you done that again?’ But if you look at what we’ve already written, you think, ‘That will go down really well.’ ”
The two specials were written around the same time as the original six-part series – which followed the two bouncers on the run in a campervan after one of the club’s patrons threatened to have them killed by a hitman – was released in 2004.
Although fans have been calling for a return for years, the only comebacks have been 2005’s spoof fitness DVD ‘Max & Paddy’s The Power of Two’ and 2015 Comic Relief fundraiser ‘Phoenix Nights Live’.
However, last month Kay – who was back on stage at the Manchester Apollo for a charity stand-up show – suggested there’s still hope for the future.
The 48-year-old star teased: “I loved making ‘Max And Paddy’ – it was one of the best times we ever had filming and we had such a good laugh.
“We actually wrote two Christmas specials, then we never made them, so you never know…”
