Jay Blades teases new experts on upcoming series of The Repair Shop

OHMYGOSSIP — Jay Blades has teased there will be more experts featured on the new series of ‘The Repair Shop’.
The 51-year-old star acts as the foreman on the BBC show – which first aired in 2017 – and viewers can expect to see some “new blood” alongside old favourites bringing cherished family heirlooms back to life.
Jay told RadioTimes.com: “We’ve got new experts and new challenges for not only the new experts but the old experts as well.
“I think, for me, ‘The Repair Shop’ is kind of like this evolving Repair Shop that needs to bring in new blood. I’m not saying I’m getting rid of the old experts, but I’m saying I love to bring in new ones.”
The ‘Jay’s Yorkshire Workship’ star teased that he show will return bigger and better as the team gave “65 per cent more” and really challenged themselves.
He added: “What I do every year is I ask the crew in front and behind the camera is, ‘Can you five me 50 per cent more?’ Luckily, they’ve been able to give me about 65 per cent more for this new series. It is amazing. Just wait till you see it.
“If you think it’s good now, we’ve got it even better. Even I’m blown away by what I’ve seen come into the barn. It’s just like, ‘Are you joking?’
“And then we push the experts as well. We say, ‘Right, you’ve done that before – how about trying this?’ ‘Ooh I’ve never done that.’ ‘Well, give it a go!’ So yeah, you’re going to see a lot more.”
It comes after the furniture restorer insisted there’s “absolutely loads more” ‘Repair Shop’ to come.
He said: “There’s another series coming … I think there’s a few series coming.
“We’re filming non-stop. I’m up there this week. Yeah, we do filming this week, so ‘The Repair Shop’ don’t worry, there’s loads more of that coming – I mean, absolutely loads more.”
Jay has recently taken a break from filming to shoot ‘Jay’s Yorkshire Workshop’, which is made by the same people behind ‘The Repair Shop’.
And he hopes that fans will ultimately love the show as much as they enjoy ‘The Repair Shop’.
He said: “They allowed me time off to go and film ‘Jay’s Yorkshire Workshop’. It’s made by the same people who make ‘The Repair Shop’, so I think it’s going to be good. But I’ll wait for people to see it and tell me.”
