Richard Bacon to return to Good Morning Britain

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Bacon is joining ‘Good Morning Britain’.
The 45-year-old television star is incredibly excited about his return to British broadcasting, which follows a stint of work across the pond, as he becomes the latest in a long line of guest replacements for Piers Morgan on the ITV breakfast news programme, following the presenter’s explosive departure back in March.
He said: “Not only am I coming home to London to guest present ‘Good Morning Britain’ this month, but being back on British breakfast broadcasting feels like coming home also.”
He is scheduled to present from August 17 to August 19 and he will be joined by Charlotte Hawkins, Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh.
Bacon told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I can’t wait to see the team again and am very much looking forward to my time on the show with Kate, Ranvir and Charlotte.”
Bacon made his name presenting flagship children’s programme Blue Peter in the late 1990s, but was dismissed from the job after being caught taking cocaine.
But the star bounced back, going on to present ‘The Big Breakfast’ and ‘Top of the Pops’ before carving out a career in radio and standing in for Piers on ‘GMB’ back in 2019.
Since Piers’ exit over his criticism of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, there has been a revolving door of replacements, including former ‘This Morning’ star Richard Madeley, 65, ex-Labour spin doctor Alastair Campbell, 64, and comedian Adil Ray, 47.
It is not yet known who will become Piers’ permanent replacement, with ITV continuing to experiment with a host of different faces.
A source said: “ITV are using these guest presenter slots to decide what works and what doesn’t. Bacon is an exciting prospect.”
