Christine McGuinness hasn’t discussed autism with her kids

OHMYGOSSIP — Christine and Paddy McGuinness haven’t discussed autism with their children.
The proud parents – whose three children Felicity, five, and eight-year-old twins Penelope and Leo are autistic – don’t hide the word itself around their kids, although it’s not something they’ve sat down to talk about as a family.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, Christine said: “No, it’s something that we haven’t spoke about yet.
“We discuss it around them, we’ve never hidden the word ‘autism’, we’ve always spoke about it. But they’ve never asked about it, and they don’t feel any different… I don’t want them to feel that way just yet.
“To me, they’re just amazing and fabulous. I don’t wanna give them any worries. I don’t want it to be a big bombshell moment, because it shouldn’t be. They should just be accepted for who they are.”
The 33-year-old model revealed she’s “so proud” of her children and how they’ve coped with everything during the pandemic.
She added: “They’re doing so well, I’m so proud of them – the way that they coped throughout the lockdown with all the changes.
“That was difficult for us, can you imagine for children who really struggle with change anyway? They’ve been through it the past year, but they’ve just done incredible.
“Even with having almost a year off school, they’ve just got all grades As pretty much!”
Meanwhile, Christine – whose ITV documentary ‘Hidden Disabilities: What’s The Truth? Tonight’ airs tonight (05.08.21) – revealed she and Paddy are working on a project with the BBC as they look to find out whether or not their children’s autism is hereditary.
She explained: “We’re doing another documentary with the BBC because we’re exploring this a lot more because we want to know how and why this has happened.
“I believe there is a genetic link there. It’s not proven yet, but everyone we’ve spoken to – different paediatricians, nurses, doctors – everyone seems to think there’s a genetic link there.”
