Len Goodman: Anton Du Beke will be a natural on Strictly Come Dancing panel

OHMYGOSSIP — Len Goodman has described Anton Du Beke as “a natural” on the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ panel.
The former head judge – who stepped down in 2016 – is “really pleased” the pro dancer is transitioning into a judging role for the upcoming series.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I’m really pleased my dear old chum Anton is getting his chance as a judge.
“I thought he was a natural to join the panel because he’s got his unique experience in that he’s been on the show and he knows what’s needed.”
The 77-year-old star – who was succeeded by Shirley Ballas as head judge – actually thought Anton might have taken over from him five years ago, but he’s glad it’s finally happening.
He added: “Shirley’s done marvellously well, so I’m not saying it for that reason, but Anton’s getting on a bit isn’t he?
“Although he’s fit as a biscuit. I thought he’s been such a loyal person on that show from the first series, and let’s face it, he’s had some challenging partners to deal with.
“He’s got such a lovely personality, I’m sure the public will really love Anton. I thought, ‘Well I’m going, he’s a shoo-in to take my place.’ But I understand the need for a little bit of fresh blood.”
Len’s comments come as Anton recently admitted he’ll be gutted if he doesn’t get to dance on ‘Strictly’ as well as being a judge.
He recently said: “Traditionally the judges don’t get involved in the group dancing unless it’s a Halloween thing or something like that.
“I would be hugely disappointed if I wasn’t able to do something. Maybe if someone comes in and does a song I could grab one of the girls the we could do a bit of a dance – I’d love that.”
The first contestants have been announced for this year’s run, with Tom Fletcher, Robert Webb and AJ Odudu all confirmed, while John Whaite has also signed up to be part of the show’s first-ever all-male partnership.
