Michael Greco hopes newborn son is ‘over the worst’ of health issues

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Greco hopes his newborn son is “over the worst of his troubles”.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actor – who played Beppe di Marco in the BBC soap from 1998 to 2002 – has given fans an update after his son Gianluca was born six weeks premature on July 1 and diagnosed with rare birth defect gastroschisis.
Sharing a snap of him cuddling his baby boy on Instagram, he wrote: “I have absolutely been overwhelmed by how many of you have contacted me about the welfare of my beautiful baba Gianluca.
“He has a few more weeks left in the hands of the experts at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
“Thankfully he seems to be over the worst of his troubles but it’s still too early to see if his bowel will settle down and start to function normally.”
The former soap star admitted the past few weeks have been incredibly tough, but he’s fully focused on his “beautiful, strong boy”.
He added: “Probably the hardest few weeks of my life but we are so in love with this beautiful, strong boy and nothing else really matters right now.
“Once again I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible support.”
Last month, Michael revealed he and his girlfriend Helen Harris’ baby had entered the world weighing just 4.47lbs after he was born prematurely, and the youngster was admitted to ICU.
Fans, friends and fellow actors flooded the comments with messages of support.
Tamzin Outhwaite wrote: “Oh my goodness… I had no idea he had been born. That’s incredible. sending you so much love and positive vibes. congratulations”.
Max Beesley added: “Sending much love brother to you your lady and the little warrior”.
And Lucy Davis said: “Soon you’ll all be home together and starting your brilliant life!! He’s just beautiful, and what love surround him!! (sic)”
