Hollyoaks Adam Woodward apologises for offensive comment

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Woodward has apologised after “engaging with an offensive post” online.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ star commented under a post made by Darren Till mocking a ‘pregnant’ transgender woman, but he has since apologised for his actions and insists his interaction was “not indicative of his beliefs or attitude” as an ally of the LGBTQ+ community.
He told MailOnline in a statement: “I would like to apologise for engaging with an offensive post on social media. The interaction is not indicative of my beliefs or attitude as an ally of the LGBTQ+ community. I believe in the right of every person to live life being true to themselves without criticism.
“I will in future be vastly more careful with how my words and emojis can be interpreted and the impact it can have on vulnerable communities that require support.”
Adam has been in ‘Hollyoaks’ since 2017, playing Brody Hudson, and he previously admitted his football abuse storyline helped him “develop” as a performer.
The star admitted that working closely with charity Survivors Manchester on the plot helped him “broaden [his] understanding” of the trauma suffered by abuse survivors.
He said: “Each role and story line you tackle helps develop you as a performer. This story line helped me understand the trauma suffered by survivors, it really helped broaden my understanding.”
Survivors Manchester has seen an increase in support following their assistance with the soap story, and Adam says he loves being able to “help people” through his career.
He added: “Since the story has aired, the charity that we work with, Survivors Manchester, has seen big increases in the number of people coming forward for support.
“To know that I get to do a job that I love that helps people is the best feeling.”
