Craig Revel Horwood excited for return of Strictly curse post-COVID

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig Revel Horwood is looking forward to the return of the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ curse now that COVID-19 restrictions are coming to an end.
The 56-year-old judge was thrilled that the BBC One ballroom show was able to still go ahead last year in the middle of the pandemic but admits the imposed bubbles put a stop to any extra-curricular fun happening between the celebrities and the professional dancers.
With social distancing restrictions in the UK ending on July 19, Craig hopes that they will continue until the start of ‘Strictly’ so the romance can return.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, he said: “It depends what happens with COVID but when people are in bubbles, they can’t touch each other. It put a dampener on the Strictly curse.”
Although the show romances are referred to as a “curse”, Craig thinks it’s wonderful that ‘Strictly’ brings people together, such as Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton who have been in a relationship since winning the glitterball trophy in 2018.
He said: “I look forward to the curse every year because I never think of it as a curse, I always considered that a blessing.
“It’s better meeting someone at work isn’t it? Someone you are dancing with and getting to know and fall in love.
“Rather that than a dating app. That’s how everyone has to meet these days.”
Craig – who will be returning to the judging panel in 2021 along with Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and pro dancer Anton Du Beke who is filling in for regular judge Bruno Tonioli who will have to stay in the US to be a judge on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ – also revealed that top of his wish list for contestants is England’s Chief Medical Officer Professor Chris Whitty, who has advised Prime Minister Boris Johnson throughout the coronavirus crisis.
He said: “It’s going to be interesting to see if he is a contestant.
“What do they say? It’s not over until the Fat Lady sings.”
